Martínez Hits in 34 Straight Games Wednesday, May 8th, 2030 The Bishop Gorman HS Balbasaurs may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 9-5 to the Fresno HS Red Wings, but Valentín Martínez continued to hit like a god. The second baseman collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 34 games. "Martínez is playing great and is on fire right now," Balbasaurs manager Elijah Davidson said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Martínez was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Valentín Martínez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and walked in the 8th. Martínez is swinging at a .427 pace on the year with 7 home runs, 38 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has played in 35 games. |
