Hit Streak Over, Warriors Stop Collins Thursday, May 2nd, 2030 It just wasn't Charles Collins's day. The Oceanside HS Pirates took the 11-0 win today over the Brookline HS Warriors, but the Warriors mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 23-game hitting streak of Pirates third baseman Charles Collins. "We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Collins," Brookline HS manager Joaquín Pérez commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Pirates have other hitters and they did their job today." So far this year, Collins is batting .336 with 4 home runs and 23 RBIs. |
