Jayhawks End Cantú's Streak
Sunday, May 20th, 2029
The Kansas Jayhawks pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Alfredo Cantú hitless in 3 at-bats during the club's 11-6 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers at Hoglund Ballpark. The disappointing performance ended a 22-game hitting streak for the first baseman.
"I'm a little down right now," Cantú said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."
For the year Cantú is batting .302 with 58 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 40 times and driven in 42.
