Workman slammed three home runs against the Purdue Boilermakers, but the Boilermakers outhit him and got the win by a score of 11-7. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Wake Forest shortstop finished the day at Lambert Field with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Tim Workman hit a two-run home run off Iván Serna in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jesús Betancourt in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off David James in the 8th. In 22 games Workman is hitting .378 this season with 28 hits, 16 home runs, 26 RBIs, 19 walks, .511 OBP and has scored 21 runs. |
