Owens Strokes 5 Hits Wednesday, April 17th, 2030 Spartans third baseman Walt Owens had his way with Louisville pitching today at John H Kobs Field and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Cardinals ruined his great day by toppling the Spartans, 17-9. "I had a great day, but you've got to give Louisville credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits." "Oh, we noticed what Owens did today," Cardinals skipper Iván Fernández said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him." Walt Owens hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off César Mejía in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Norberto Mendoza in the 9th.
