Hernández Gets 5 Hits
Saturday, August 3rd, 2030
Armando Hernández was at the head of a Nantucket Orcas hit parade today at Gentry Field. The 20-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Beaverton Bronze Souls that marched off with the 8-6 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Orcas skipper Bill Dennis following the game. "Armando did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Hernández did more than fine, dominating the Bronze Souls at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging shortstop told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Armando Hernández singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Hernández's current batting average stands at .314 and he has chalked up 1 home run and 4 RBIs.
