Sunday, September 1st, 2030
Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Abel Walker, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Minnesota Death Stars reliever, 20, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .276 average and walked away with the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month award for August.
Walker posted a 4-1 mark and a 3.82 ERA in no relief appearances. In 33 innings, he had no saves, 29 strikeouts, and 9 walks.
This year Walker has 21 relief appearances with no saves, 11-4 season record and a 3.40 ERA. He has hurled 98 innings, given up 96 hits, struck out 89 and walked 36. Opposing clubs have batted .256 against the Minnesota reliever.
