López Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games
Monday, September 16th, 2030
With 1 hit at LightSabre Stadium today, Júlio López added another game to his hitting streak -- the Buffalo third baseman has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the LightSabres today, as they fell, 8-2, to the Kingston Iguanas.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," Kingston manager Francisco Vázquez said later. "I'll let him get 3 hits in 3 at-bats if it means we get a win." Júlio López singled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th and flied out in the 8th.
This season López has banged out 114 hits in 396 at-bats for a .288 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .367 pace and his totals also include 41 RBIs and 57 runs scored.
