Francis Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 25 Monday, August 12th, 2030 Late in the game, all eyes in Red Hot Stadium were on Norm Francis as he stepped into the batter box. His 25-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Francis, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Francis today, it was that his Gresham Gold Souls won the game anyway, stopping the Albuquerque Isotopes by the score of 5-4. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Francis told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 25 straight games. It's something I will always remember." Francis on the season is batting .380 with 5 home runs. His totals include 18 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played in 20 games. |
