League Championship Goes the Distance, Kenilworth Prevails
Thursday, October 24th, 2030
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Jersey West at Staples Field as the League Championship stretched to the final game.
It was the Kenilworth Aces feeling the thrill of victory, with a 6-2 win over the So Cal Bruins, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the BSA Championship.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said So Cal manager Jorge Rivera. "Congratulations to Kenilworth, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was second baseman Luis Sánchez, who was named MVP. He hit .519 with a .552 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The Kenilworth Aces don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Pocatello Bellas - Springfield Stars series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The BSA Championship schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes.
