Divisional Round Goes the Distance, So Cal Prevails
Monday, October 14th, 2030
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Jersey West at Staples Field as the Divisional Round stretched to the final game.
It was the So Cal Bruins feeling the thrill of victory, with a 7-2 win over the New Orleans Looters, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the League Championship.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said New Orleans manager Ramón Aragón. "Congratulations to So Cal, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was catcher Earl Wiggins, who was named MVP. He hit .321 with a .333 on-base percentage. He had 5 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 6 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The So Cal Bruins will play against the Kenilworth Aces in the next round. Kenilworth won their series against the Baffin Island Beavers 4 games to 1. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Divisional Round finishes.
