Hit Parade: Cantrell Pops 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 30th, 2030
Portland Cards right fielder Phil Cantrell had a day to remember at The Kallipolis today, ripping apart the Nassau Rockets and sparking the Cards to a 6-5 victory.
Cantrell wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Cantrell told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Phil Cantrell singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 11th, hit a solo-shot off Kenkichi Morimoto in the 13th and hit an RBI single in the 14th.
Cantrell is swinging at a .362 pace on the year with 1 home run, 9 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has played in 16 games.
