Bandits Turn Back Springfield, 7-6
|
The Springfield Stars got a superb performance from right fielder Derek Davidson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Francisco. The Bandits won the game, 7-6. In spite of the loss, Davidson was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jae-hyun Ch'oe earned the win to go to 6-4. He allowed 5 earned runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. San Francisco is in 4th place in the National League Western Division with a record of 28-36.
The Bandits got a big at-bat from shortstop Peter Bishop. For the game, Bishop was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 71st hit of the season gave San Francisco a 6-5 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Bishop told the San Francisco Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
