Jersey Shore got a terrific performance from second baseman Francisco Sandoval, but it wasn't enough to beat the Springfield Stars. Springfield won the Kekambas Park contest, 5-4. Sandoval was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-3 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs. José Valdéz converted his 16th save in 18 tries. Springfield has a 5-game win streak, while Jersey Shore has lost 3 in a row.
Mike Pearson drove in one run for Springfield. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Cristóbal Santos. It was his 26th RBI of the season.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Jersey Shore manager J.J. Hodgett said following the tough loss.
