Victory Pushes Browns Record to 37-20
|
The St. Louis Browns picked up a win at Gateway Stadium, knocking off the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese, 4-1. Starting pitcher Scott Walker, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Walker went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-1. Juan Rivera was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Víctor Serrano, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.
Serrano told a St. Louis Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
St. Louis is now 37-20, 6½ games up in the Continental League Eastern Division.
