Conditions were not ideal but Maui and Chicago were able to put their game in the books.

Maui left-hander Jerry Martin pitched his team to victory over the Chicago Machine at Rainbow Stadium. The final score was 8-2. Martin, now 4-6, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs.

The Tropics got a big at-bat from center fielder Roberto Gómez. For the game, Gómez went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 5th double of the season gave Maui a 4-1 lead.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Martin.
