Athletics Win at Chicago, 11-3
|
The Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Chicago Machine, 11-3, at Old Comiskey Park today. Leading the charge for Philadelphia was center fielder Tony Morton. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Butch Ramey earned the win for Philadelphia. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 5-2. Rob Greene finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Morton had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the second, when he hit a 2-run double. The Athletics went on to win.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Morton. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The Athletics now have a record of 24-23 with the win over Chicago.
