The Kenilworth Aces got a strong performance from pitcher Curt Watkins, who stymied the Maui offense en route to a 2-1 win at Play Rocks Field. In 6.1 innings, Watkins surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The Aces bumped their record to 29-16 with this latest triumph.
Andrés Lara was 1-3 with a walk for Kenilworth. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Júlio González. It was his 35th RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Lara told reporters after the game.
