Cruz Goes Off, But Bandits Win
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Tony Cruz, the Austin River Sharks suffered a 15-10 loss to the San Francisco Bandits. Cruz hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. The 4th-place Bandits improved to 17-23.

Scott Merritt, who is tied for 6th in the NL in doubles with 12, helped out the San Francisco cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 2-6 with a double.

Austin manager Manny Pueblo said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game."
