Despite a fine performance by third baseman Howard Evans, the Baffin Island Beavers suffered a 5-4 loss to the So Cal Bruins. Evans went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Bruins keep rolling, raising their record to 5-1.
This game was not decided until late. With two out in the top of the ninth, Earl Wiggins drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Bruins took the lead, 5-4.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Wiggins. "But I like how we're playing right now."
