River Sharks Get Close Win Over Bandits
|
Austin and San Francisco got after it at Bay View Park.
The Austin River Sharks picked up a win at Bay View Park, knocking off the San Francisco Bandits, 4-0. Starting pitcher José Pérez was an essential part of his team's success. Pérez went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-4.
The River Sharks got a big at-bat from center fielder Enrico Vargas. For the game, Vargas was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Austin a 3-0 lead.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Vargas said after the game.
