Nelson Slugs Kings to 4-3 Win
|
The Kansas City Kings beat the Maui Tropics, 4-3 at Rainbow Stadium, in part due to second baseman Gregg Nelson, who nabbed player of the game honors. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Kansas City now has a 3-game win streak.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Douglas Taylor to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Kings on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Taylor attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
