Tropics Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Panthers
|
The Tropics faced a stiff challenge from Vista pitcher William Watson, but persevered to claim a win at Stone Brewery Stadium. The final score was 7-5. Watson went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Archie Summers picked up the save, his 2nd. Maui, at 15-19, sits in 4th place in the National League Western Division.
Ernesto López had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for the Tropics. Coming up with a runner on 1st and Maui trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run home run.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," López told the Maui Daily News.
