Bennett 3-5 to Pull Machine to .500
|
The Chicago Machine bested the Kenilworth Aces, 8-3, at Play Rocks Field. Edward Bennett was named player of the game. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 7 RBI and scoring once. Chicago reliever Aaron Thrash was credited with the win, to go to 2-1. Scot MacIntosh took the loss for Kenilworth. Losses have been few and far between for the Aces so far this season. Their record drops to 22-10.
Bennett contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Chicago in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Bennett took a cutter from Scot MacIntosh and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Machine to leap in front, 4-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Bennett, "and today was a good one for us."
