Knights Lose to Athletics, 6-4
|
The Philadelphia Athletics beat the New York Knights, 6-4, at Edmund Fitzgerald Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Carter Sweet, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. António López earned the save for Philadelphia, his 8th of the year. The Knights, at 7-23, have stumbled out of the gate.
Sweet had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count cutter from James Jones, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Athletics a 6-4 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Sweet.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Sweet.
