Browns Jolt Machine with Late Rally
The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place St. Louis Browns at Gateway Stadium.

The St. Louis Browns defeated the Chicago Machine, 6-2. Earning player of the game honors was second baseman Pepe Carrasco, who went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. St. Louis reliever Martín Ortíz was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Juan Rodríguez took the loss for Chicago. Huang Chen recorded the save for St. Louis, his 10th of the season.

Carrasco had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 slider from Juan Rodríguez, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Browns a 6-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Carrasco.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Carrasco.

St. Louis, now 19-9, has played well in the early going.
