5-Hit Barrage by Colón
|
A jubilant José Colón joined the postgame press conference at The Viper Nest today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Vancouver Vipers pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the District 9 Prawns first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Prawns to a 10-6 win.
"He made it look easy," said Mŕximo Aniceto, manager of the Vipers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
José Colón grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Presently Colón is batting .313 and has collected 2 home runs, 39 RBIs, .385 OBP and scored 39 runs.
