2000 Hits for Castro
|
For Juan Castro, it was a red-letter day. The Pocatello Bellas third baseman slapped his 2000th career hit. That his team defeated the Portland Cards, 10-5, made it even sweeter.
His manager paid tribute to Castro after the game: "I've followed Juan since he came into the league," he said. "Fine ballplayer. Fine work ethic. I'm not surprised by what he's achieved."
The 35-year-old Castro finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats.
Castro is hitting .277 during his 1897-game career. He has 2002 hits, 483 doubles, 66 triples, 238 home runs, 1051 RBIs, 29 stolen bases and 976 runs scored.
