Both teams had their chances, but the Pocatello Bellas eventually prevailed at Michigan & Trumbull.
Greenville got a terrific performance from shortstop Brock Larsen, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pocatello Bellas. Pocatello won the Michigan & Trumbull contest, 7-6. Larsen was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The winner was Pocatello reliever Jaime Espinoza, now 2-1. The loser was Tomás González. Gerald Johnson recorded his 8th save for Pocatello.
Had Francisco Ibarra not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Ibarra hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Bellas.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Pocatello manager Danny Lombardi.
At 15-8, the Bellas have played well so far.
