Tropics Continue Skid Thanks to Morton, Athletics
|
The Philadelphia Athletics topped the Maui Tropics by the score of 8-6, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Tony Morton. Morton hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Athletics. António López closed the game out for Philadelphia, earning his 6th save. The Tropics fall to 7-14 and continue their uneasy start to the 2030 season.
Anastasio Villa aided the Philadelphia cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
Morton expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
