Wells Slaps 5 Hits
It was a sensational day at the plate for New York Knights designated hitter Mark Wells, but a tough one for the team, as the Knights dropped the contest 13-12 to the New Orleans Looters.

Even with the loss, Wells was pure misery for the New Orleans pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting.

"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Wells, who is the 29-year old designated hitter .

"Wells really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Looters manager Ramón Aragón told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Mark Wells hit a solo-shot off Anthony O'Connor in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jason MacKnight in the 7th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 10th and singled in the 12th.

This season Wells is swinging the bat at a .328 rate with 22 hits in 67 at-bats. To date he has hit 4 home runs, scored 7 runs and driven in 9.
