Multi-HR Day for Coates as Browns Overpower Marshals, 8-1
|
Browns first baseman Junior Coates put his stamp on his team's 8-1 win over the Houston Marshals. Coates went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for St. Louis in the contest. Scott Walker picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 14-6. The first-place Browns, at 92-59, now lead their division by 8 games.
Coates had a key at-bat for St. Louis early in the game. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 33rd home run of the season and gave St. Louis an early 3-1 lead.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager John Leach.
