Gang Green Raise Rally Flag, Beat Nassau, 7-5
|
The Nassau Rockets got a superb performance from designated hitter Dusty Wilson, but the Irvine Gang Green still won the game, 7-5. Wilson was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Irvine reliever Ramón Silva picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-5. Kenkichi Morimoto was collared with the loss. Irvine now sits in second place in the National League Western Division at 87-57.
Carlos Córdova hit a 2-run triple off Kenkichi Morimoto in the top of the eighth, which put the Gang Green in front, 7-5. Córdova had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Irvine manager Patrick Carrier.
