Aces Trip Bandits in Extras
|
The Kenilworth Aces and San Francisco Bandits put on quite a show at Bay View Park.
San Francisco got a terrific game from center fielder Scott Merritt. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kenilworth, 6-5. Merritt was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Kenilworth has now won 3 in a row.
Luis Sánchez's hit in the top of the 11th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a splitter from Kunihiko Daikawa for a run-scoring single. It put Kenilworth in front, 6-5.
"It was a test of wills," said Ismael Martínez, the Kenilworth skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
