Beavers Turn Back Maui, 3-2
|
The Beavers had to overcome a good performance from Maui pitcher Ronald Cotton to claim a 3-2 win at Rainbow Stadium. Cotton went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Luis Noriega, credited with the win, is now 11-7. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 5.1 innings. Baffin Island is now 95-45, 6 games up in the National League Eastern Division.
Howard Evans, who is tied for 9th in the NL in RBI with 98, aided the Baffin Island cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4.
"We've got a great group of guys," Evans said, "and we're having fun right now."
