Maui and Portland duked it out at The Kallipolis and the Tropics came out victorious.

Starting pitcher Ronald Cotton pitched well enough to help the Maui Tropics beat the Portland Cards by the score of 8-5. The Tropics' win now puts them at 58-78.

Luis Alou, who is tied for 7th in the NL in extra base hits with 63, aided the Maui cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Alou told the Maui Daily News.
