Giannini Helps Cards Run Win Streak to 4
|
Benefiting from Giancarlo Giannini's productive game, the Portland Cards downed the Maui Tropics, 8-6. Giannini was 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Cards. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Portland.
The Cards got a big at-bat from designated hitter Aaron Scott. For the game, Scott went 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 69th hit of the season gave Portland a 4-3 lead.
"We came out aggressive," said Cards manager Gabriel Ontiveros. "We came out swinging the bats."
