Rebels Get Past Hendersonville for 4-3 Win
|
The Rebels faced a stiff challenge from Hendersonville pitcher Jorge Guillén, but persevered to claim a win at Fenway Park. The final score was 4-3. Guillén went 7.1 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. Boston reliever Terry Fields was credited with the win, to go to 3-1. Jorge Guillén took the loss for Hendersonville. Boston, at 62-70, sits in 4th place in the National League Eastern Division.
Had Alfredo Cortéz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cortéz hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rebels.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Cortéz, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
