Bruins Lose to River Sharks, 4-2
|
Austin River Sharks starter António Rijo turned in a top-notch performance against the So Cal Bruins at Greendale Community Field. The result was a win for the River Sharks, 4-2. In 7 innings, Rijo surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Junior Mateo got the save, his 1st in 2 chances.
Tom Rowe, the 14 overall pick in the 2023 draft, aided the Austin cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a hit by pitch.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Rowe told the Austin Today.
The River Sharks saw their record improve to 64-67.
