Pikes Raise Rally Flag, Beat Vista, 6-4
|
Vista center fielder Dante Owens had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Owens went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, even as Seattle beat the Panthers, 6-4. Owens was named the player of the game despite the loss. Francisco Carrasco converted his 26th save in 28 tries. The Pikes saw their win-loss record go to 46-81. At the same time, the Panthers fell to 72-54.
Had John Clark not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Clark hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Pikes.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Clark, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
