Athletics Win at Kenilworth, 4-2
|
The Philadelphia Athletics trumped the Kenilworth Aces, 4-2, at Play Rocks Field. Philadelphia left fielder John Peterson was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Gianluigi Ciottone, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed 2 runs on 10 hits in 8 innings. Paco Ruíz earned his 4th save in 5 chances.
Peterson came through with some timely hitting for Philadelphia. With the score 1-1 in the top of the fifth and no one down, Peterson hit a 1-0 curveball for a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season made it 3-1, Philadelphia.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Bobby Jones.
The Athletics bumped their record to 67-58 with this latest triumph.
