Browns Get One-Run Win at Philadelphia
|
The Browns had to overcome a fine effort from Philadelphia pitcher Otis Sykes to grab a narrow 6-5 win at Edmund Fitzgerald Field. Sykes went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Juan Franco was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 18 save opportunities. St. Louis is now 78-45, 9 games up in the Continental League Eastern Division.
The Browns got a big at-bat from left fielder Norberto Muńóz. For the game, Muńóz went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 112nd hit of the season gave St. Louis a 6-5 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Muńóz told the St. Louis Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
