Gang Green Get One-Run Win at Orlando
|
The Irvine Gang Green defeated the Orlando Calrissian, 5-4, in National League action at Mel Fields, with Irvine second baseman Lawrence Schroeder named player of the game. Dae-ho Kim got the win, improving to 13-6. He held the Calrissian to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 11 and walking 1. Raúl Saltines got the save, his 23rd in 29 chances.
Schroeder contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Irvine in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-0, Schroeder took a fastball from Gerardo García and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Gang Green to leap in front, 4-3.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Schroeder told the Irvine Citizen.
The Calrissian, now 48-70, have lost 5 straight.
