Beavers Stumble, Lose to Athletics
|
The Philadelphia Athletics and Baffin Island Beavers completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Philadelphia Athletics relied on the hitting of third baseman César García to stop the Baffin Island Beavers, 8-3. For the game, García was 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 times. Tom Miller got the win, improving to 5-6. He held the Beavers to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3.
Brian Boone had a big bases-clearing double for the Athletics in the bottom of the second inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Juan González and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 5-1.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Boone said after the game.
The Athletics bumped their record to 60-50 with this latest triumph.
