The So Cal Bruins got a superb performance from pitcher Jeffrey King. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Seattle. The Pikes won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, King was named the player of the game. He threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball. Mike Hodges, credited with the win, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The win boosts the Pikes to 37-72. The loss puts the Bruins at 66-42.
The Pikes got a big at-bat from catcher Javier Martínez. For the game, Martínez went 1-4. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 64th hit of the season gave Seattle a 2-1 lead.
"There's no quit in this team," said Pikes manager Tim Wilson.
