Gibson Helps Knights Run Win Streak to 3
|
The New York Knights relied on the hitting of right fielder Jackson Gibson to stop the Nashville G-Strings, 9-7. For the game, Gibson was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Thatcher Smith got the win, improving to 8-10. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Sancho Mendoza notched his 17th save in 20 chances.
One important at-bat for New York came with two out in the top of the ninth inning. With a runner on 2nd, Gibson hit a 2-run home run, which contributed to the Knights win.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Gibson.
New York now has a 3-game win streak.
