Pikes Bang Out 9-6 Win Versus Philadelphia
|
Seattle played host to Philadelphia at the friendly confines of Pikes' Point Stadium.
Seattle right fielder Richard Hunter was instrumental in his team's 9-6 win over the Philadelphia Athletics. Hunter, who is a four-time All-Star, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Pikes. The winner was Darren Blackwell, who threw 111 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Francisco Carrasco notched his 22nd save in 24 chances.
Hunter had a key at-bat for Seattle early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and gave Seattle an early 2-0 lead.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Seattle skipper Tim Wilson.
The Pikes now have a record of 36-69 with the win over Philadelphia.
