Knights Lose to Browns, 5-3
|
The St. Louis Browns topped the New York Knights by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Anthony Rucker. Rucker was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Browns. Jeff Sandusky was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Huang Chen earned the save for St. Louis, his 1st of the year.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when catcher Víctor Serrano, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, drew a walk. The Browns went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Rucker told reporters after the game.
The win leaves St. Louis with a record of 5-5.
