Rockets Lose to Beavers, 10-7
|
Despite a great performance by Nassau designated hitter António Zúńiga, the Baffin Island Beavers defeated the Rockets by the score of 10-7 at Beaver Dam. Zúńiga was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Luis Noriega picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 9-5. Beau Brown, credited with the save, is now 11 for 14 in save opportunities.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from shortstop Dave Craig. For the game, Craig was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Baffin Island a 4-2 lead.
"We got the victory," said Craig. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Baffin Island improves to 71-30 with the win. They lead their division by 7 games.
