Kings Sneak Past Pikes, 4-3
|
The Kansas City Kings beat the Seattle Pikes, 4-3, at Pikes' Point Stadium. The Kings got a fine performance from first baseman Douglas Taylor, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. Keith Swanson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-8. Darren Blackwell was tagged with the loss. Nick Parks converted his 16th save in 19 tries.
Toshimichi Kono, who is a two-time All-Star, contributed to the Kansas City win with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Taylor told the Kansas City News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
The second-place Kings raised their record to 52-47.
